2008 Campaign

The United Way of Junction City - Geary County began its annual fund raising campaign with the “Business Blitz” in July, on KJCK radio, with a goal for 2008 of $225,000. The official Kick Off event at the Junction City General’s baseball game also took place in July with the theme for 2008 of “Live United”.

In October our Day of Caring event brought together volunteers from the community to help some of our agencies with projects that had been delayed due to the lack of staffing or resources.

We recently made some changes to our allocations process that included site visits made by our panels of volunteers. The change allowed the volunteers to really get to learn more about what really happens at the agencies and give them a better understanding of how to allocate the funds appropriately based on the agencies’ needs. The changes received excellent reviews as many of the volunteers disclosed that they learned a lot from the allocations process and were very grateful that they had the opportunity to participate.
